5 Foods You Should Not Refrigerate
Some meals shouldn't be chilled since doing so can change their flavor, consistency, or general quality. The following five foods should be kept outside of the refrigerator:
1 Tomatoes: Tomatoes that have been refrigerated may have lost their flavor and developed a mealy texture. Instead, keep them in a cool, dry place at room temperature and utilize them within a few days.
2 Potatoes: Colder temperatures can cause the starch in potatoes to break down and turn into sugar, giving them a sweet or grittier flavor. Potatoes should be stored in a cold, dark, and ventilated pantry or cabinet.
3 Onions: When kept in the refrigerator, onions can turn mushy and moldy. They should ideally be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place with excellent air flow.
4 Garlic: Garlic that has been refrigerated may sprout and get rubbery. Garlic bulbs should be kept in a pantry or other airtight container that is cool, dry, and well-ventilated.
